ABOUT FARNAZ
I’m Dr. Farnaz, your partner for change.
Most people have an intellectual understanding of what is needed to change. Yet, year after year, things stay relatively the same.
Coaching with me is different.
It's an intimate process and partnership where information becomes transformation, your life dramatically improves, and you feel more present and on purpose.
Through mindset work, actionable tools, courageous practice, and a willingness to get uncomfortable and messy, I work with my clients to create lasting change that reverberates in all areas of their lives.
I've spent over 20 years in leadership and personal development. I even earned my doctorate and post-doctorate in Organizational Leadership (now you don’t have to).
I’ve trained, taught, researched, and coached.
I’ve published, presented, facilitated, and led.
And today, I invite you to take center stage in your life and fulfill your highest potential.
MY JOURNEY - A Life of Change, Challenge, and Coaching
As a child, I was the #1 student in our town. This is what they literally called me. I learned early on to attach my self-worth to my external achievements and be perfect at all costs. I was known in my family as “The Perfect One.”
I worked extra hard to achieve and succeed.
I believed then that my safety and security came from my achievements.
I attended SUNY at Stonybrook University and studied Electrical Engineering. In my heart, I knew my calling was not in Engineering. But Electrical Engineering was what I “should” have done. Shoulding myself became a common pattern in my life for a while.
I was good at electrical engineering and successful at my first few job positions out of college, but it was clearly not my calling.
When I was 28 years old, I met with a career coach. She did some personality assessments with me and declared,
“You should be doing psychology!”
This was scary to hear and also very affirming.
While still working, I went back to school and got my master’s in organizational management. I began training and working in instructional design.
I discovered that my true passion was coaching and the psychology of change for individuals, teams, and entire organizations.
The irony was, at that time, I was terrified of public speaking. I wrote all the Train the Trainer curriculum and workshops for companies such as Toyota Financial Services, and Northrop Grumman. Yet I was too terrified to deliver it myself. I knew something had to change!

MY JOURNEY Continued
HOW IMPROV SAVED ME
I enrolled in Improv classes to work through my fears. And it was not easy! In fact, I walked out of the first two classes because of my intense anxiety and fear. But I persevered and eventually enrolled in the famous Second City Improv program in Hollywood. I didn’t walk out this time and my willingness to get comfortable with the uncomfortable completely transformed my life.
At the end of the program, I knew there was a connection between improv and effective leadership. I had experienced it firsthand! It also greatly impacted my confidence and flexibility in dating.
With this new level of confidence and clarity, I completed my doctorate, got my coaching certification, and launched my coaching practice.
PROVING THE IMPACT OF IMPROV
Improv deeply impacted my life. And I wanted to know why. In my doctorate program at Pepperdine, my goal was to prove, with valid and reliable research, that improv was as powerful as I had found it to be in my own personal life. And I did!
After two full years, 350 pages, and over 400 reference letters, my dissertation “The Effects of Improvisation Techniques in Leadership Development” proved that improv is vital to business and personal effectiveness. To date, this is the largest study of its kind.
LIFE LONG LEARNER
As an executive coach, university professor, and workshop leader, I have to be up to date with the latest research and most impactful coaching modalities. Whether it’s a book, a podcast, an online workshop, program, or working with my own 1:1 coach, I am immersed in the work of transformational living. I am a student first and learning is my happy place.
MY BIG IMPACT TODAY
I bring empathy, love, and possibility to everything I do in work and life. My big impact is to invite all who interact with me into seeing a future full of possibilities and to intentionally create it now with courage and consistency.
In my coaching practice, I serve a wide range of individuals in corporate, political, and creative positions while also teaching business and leadership classes at X.
I live in Los Angeles with my husband and have two college-age daughters.
I inspire and lead others to create their big impact so our world can be a better place.
